Hello Everyone! I’m back after a full week vacation, and this just in…vacations ROCK. It had been quite some time since Tony and I took a real vacation, and now I’m kind of addicted.
Our trip to the great state of California was planned around a good friend of mine’s wedding (congrats Ruth and Jay!). So we spent our time in Davis, then Napa, and then were able to squeeze on some extra time in San Francisco. And well, I’m in love with that city.
But enough about me. Let’s talk about the INCREDIBLE architecture and unique homes that San Fran boasts on every corner. They were truly something to drool over. Emphasis on drool since I checked out some real estate and went into shock. Apparently NOT gonna happen in this lifetime.
Here are some of the neighborhoods we checked out. This was mostly done on foot, and with all those hills, this might be my first vacation where my a$$ is thanking me after 🙂
Alamo Square
Recognize??? Yes, this is where the infamous Famous Ladies were, and they were a blast from the past to see as I grew up watching Full House.
Castro
We stayed in a neighborhood right near the Castro theater. Castro street is a site to be seen, with some very conservative stores like “the sausage factory” and “the hand job salon”, to name a few. Loved it!!!
Dolores Park
This park was just a block from where we stayed, and apparently it’s a year round party. No joke – there was a guy selling beer just like they do at a baseball game. No cracker jacks though. The views from the top of the hill are stunning, and the homes that line the park are equally gorgeous.
Oh, and check out this school that sits across the street. Yes folks, this is a public school!!! DAMN!
Embarcadero
This is San Fran’s seaport and the place to catch the Alcatraz cruise. We stopped in at the Embarcadero market and got some fantastic (and strong) coffee from Blue Bottle.

Lombard Street
Known as the famous street of twists and turns… We climbed up a mountain to get there!

Mission
Three word for you about the Mission. Best. Tacos. Ever. Ok yes, it was close to 2am and I had a few beers, but I am still dreaming about the Mexican food I ate in the Mission.

Golden Gate Bridge
What more can I say? We rented bikes and rode over the bridge into Sausalito. So fun!
Alrighty, I’m gonna pull the whole jetlag excuse and end here. But before I go I just have to say that this was one of the greatest, laid back, beautiful, unique, and special city’s I have visited, and I can’t wait to go back someday!
