Clothing Swap 2011

9 May

Last week I hosted my 2nd annual clothing swap, and it was a blast!   Putting together a clothing swap is a great excuse for a midweek lady’s night, and it gives you a deadline to finally clean out your closet to get ready for a new season.
WIN WIN!

So here’s the scoop….

1. Pick a date.  Make sure you give your girlfriends plenty of lead time so they can gather all the goods.
I’m old school so I sent an Evite 🙂

2. Prepare some light finger foods, hor devours, chips and dip… stuff you can pick up and put down easily.

3. Make sure you have plenty of wine (or margaritas as shown above) on hand.

4.  Once everyone arrives… grab some food and drinks, and let the shopping begin!!

Here I am saying goodbye to one of my favorite college going out shirts.  Oh the memories….

A few helpful tips..

Before the party, collect boxes to organize the clothes.  Trust me, this makes things SO much easier for sorting through stuff.  Then make labels for clothing type (shirts, pants, dresses, etc…) so when your friends arrive, they can put the clothes they brought into the appropriate bin.

Designate a “try on” room, preferably near a full length mirror.

Once the swapping is done, go around the room and have everyone show off what they took (and have the owner fess up!)

Put all of the remaining clothes into trash bags, and have each guest bring a bag to good will.

Check out my steals!

North Face Winter Jacket
Cashemere Sweater
T-shirt from Bueno y Sano (fav burrito joint from college)
Zara shirt
J.Crew Pants
Plus a super cute H&M shirt that I wore to work the very next day (why it’s not in the pic!).

For some more clothing organization tips, check out THIS post!

{Once you swap you just can’t stop.}
